Commercial insurance compensation has risen significantly over the last two years, driven by talent shortages, the hard market, and increased M&A activity in the agency space. Here's our 2026 market overview.

Commercial Lines Account Manager: $62,000–$95,000

Commercial AM salaries have increased 8–12% year-over-year in most markets. Senior AMs with E&S exposure and full P&C books are commanding the top of range. Markets with highest demand: Dallas, Atlanta, Tampa, Charlotte, Denver.

Commercial Underwriter: $78,000–$165,000

Range reflects associate to senior level. E&S and specialty lines underwriters at the senior level are regularly receiving $140K–$175K+ all-in in competitive markets. Binding authority is the premium differentiator.

Claims Adjuster: $56,000–$115,000

Property CAT experience adds $10,000–$20,000 to base in most markets. Multi-state licensed adjusters continue to see above-average comp growth. Litigation specialists at senior level are exceeding the range in complex markets.

Risk Manager: $92,000–$200,000

Enterprise risk roles have seen the most significant comp growth as corporations invest in risk infrastructure post-COVID. CRO-level roles at complex organizations can significantly exceed this range.

E&S / Surplus Lines Specialist: $88,000–$180,000

The hard market continues to drive premium demand for E&S talent. Binding authority underwriters at growth MGAs are receiving equity components and profit sharing in addition to base salary.
